The Commonwealth Fencing Championships were
good. 18 countries...
Our (Isle of Man fencing club) Siobhan Ives finished 39th. (WF)
Siobhan 'fenced her socks off' against some very tough
competition. She impressed many of the coaches, not just because she was the
youngest female (just 14yrs) but by her determination to fight to the end.
Siobhan was finally beaten in the 'DE's' by 15-5 by welsh
fencer Katie McLeod.
Other IOM fencers: Maddison Turner (WF) did well in the early
stages and went out in her 2nd DE 15-0 to Canadian girl Elise Daquost 15-0.
Young Mathew Albers (ME) did very well, he was the youngest
fencer in the men's epee, finishing 29th.
